Description
The Mavrokoudoura grape variety is one of the most rare red grapes. It’s origin is in the eastern Evia (in Kymi village). Although Kymi was well known for it’s Mavrokoudoura vineyards in the past, the people there stopped the cultivation, in order to work in the Merchant Navy. Thus, at the middle of the 20th century the Mavrokoudoura was in extinct but the Euboean Winemaker Apostolos Mountrichas – Avantis Estate’s winemaker, revived it. He made new plantations 15 years ago.
